Freedom Of Assembly

People protesting about imigration

http://www.internationalist.org/nyuprotestvigilantes070222.jpg

1st Amendment-Freedom of Assembly

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

This photo is about people(mostly immigrants)protesting against illegal immigration. These people feel that immigrants shouldnt have to be illegal because U.S should make a way that they dont have to be illegal. This relates to the constitution because these immigrants are protesting. Which is the 1st amendment freedom of assembly. I chose this particular photo because it relates to the Arizona immigration law which Im against because i feel that this isnt right to a person. Not just a natural born citizen, to human being period because a person doesnt have the ability to make themselves live where they want.

Power of the States and people

10th Amendment-Power of the States and people

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

This photo is about children protesting against the Arizona immigration law. The Arizona immigration law is Arizona citizens must present a birth certificate to Police when pulled over to see if they are illegal immigrants. The law was passed because Arizona have too many illegal immigrants. I feel that this law is wrong because it is racial profiling and may make natural born citizens feel unwanted.

Trial and Punishment

A little boy asking a Lawyer about the 5th amendment

5th amendment-Trial and Punishment, Compensation for Takings

"No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation"

This cartoon is about a little boy asking a lawyer does the 5th amendment apply to report cards because he probably has bad grades and he's probably saying could he fail more than 1 class twice or can he get punished for his bad grades twice. This relates to the constitution because the 5th amendment is you cant be tried twice for the same offense and how a person cant be a witness of himself.

Right to Speedy Trial

Judge making a joke
http://www.cartoonstock.com/directory/s/speedy_trial.asp

Sixth amendment- Right to Speedy Trial
"In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence."

The cartoon is about a case in the courtroom and how a man keeps objecting. The judge is angry because this is a speedy trial and the man keeps objecting. This relates to the 6th admendment because the 6th admendment is the right to Speedy trial and that means The Trial has to go fast and cant be continued too many times.

Cruel and Unusual Punishment

Police beating Man
Eighth Amendment
"Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted."
This picture has a police beating an incarcerated man and the police are saying this is a cruel punishment but they say it isnt unusual because they do it all the time. This picture connects to the constitution because the constitution says no cruel or unusual punishment should be the on anyone and the police are beating the man for no reason.

Rights to Bear Arms

A man is holding a gun

Second Amendment

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

In this picture I assume the man behind the desk is saying something about the man having a gun. The man with the gun is saying he can have the gun because in the constitution its says every person in the United States has the right to bear arms. What if this man is in a certain state that has a no assault rifle law? Would he be arrested for having this Gun?

Search and Seizure

Police raid house without warrant

4th amendment Search and Seizures

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

In this photo the police is raiding a woman's house without a warrant. The police were at her window and they told her they were looking for someone. She opened the door and told them that person wasnt there. The police then forced their way into her house and after she complained to them they told her to be quiet before they arrest her. This relates to the constitution because the police forced their way into a woman house without a search warrant. Its not like they was chasing a criminal in he ran in the house and they ran right behind him. They just forced their way in her house because they wanted to.

Freedom of Press

Dog made with newspaper peeing on the freedom of press pole.

Amendment 1 Freedom of Press
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press"

This picture is about the freedom of press. I think the dog is peeing on the pole which is comunicating to the world. The dog is made of newspaper so the press is giving the world information. This related to the constitution because the first amendment says humans have the freedom of press which means that they have the right to print newspaper, magazines, and report or record people in public.

Freedom of Speech

A King talking to Citizens
Amendment 1 Freedom of Speech
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech"
This picture is showing a King standing in front of a group of people telling them they have a freedom of speech but they have to watch their language. I believe this picture means that people have the freedom of speech but they cant say what they want. For example a student can say what they want in class but cant tell his teacher F**K You. This connects to the constitution because everybody in the United States have the right to say what they want.

Legislative Branch

Obama signs Nuclear arsenal pact
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/obama
Article 2 Executive branch, Section 2
"He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties,"
This article is about President Obama and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev finally signing a tough bill to trim both United States and Russia nuclear arsenals. This historical event happened April 9, 2010. The photo is showing President Obama waving as he gets on Air Force One at Prague Ruzyne. It took under 40 minutes to seal the deal. This connects to the constitution because the President made a treaty with Russia.
